CHAPTER FOURReady to Split the Sheets!MARSHA: We were about 60 seconds away from ending the marriage. When I revealed my affair to Jim, it was a nightmare. I knew our marriage was over. I thought, "What are we going to do. Who's going to get what? What are we going to do with the boys? Where am I going to go? Am I going to stay? Is he going to go?" We had been living together as male and female but not as man and wife. We were just roommates sharing the same bed. He had his life and I had mine. He went his way and I went mine. JIM: A critical battle was being fought that night when I slammed my fist on the top of our pastor's car, pointed my boney finger at him and said, "Nobody but Jesus is going to have my wife." That was the turning point. The next day, as we were sitting down to discuss how we were going to "split the sheets" (divide our assets), I looked at Marsha and, for the first time, really fell in love with her. Suddenly, I knew I could not live without her. God had changed me! |
MARSHA: And He had changed me. I looked at Jim and realized that he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. JIM: What had happened? It began with a prayer that included, "God, I want to be like You. I ask You to establish Your character in my life." And it also included, "God, change me. Nobody but Jesus is going to rule and reign in my heart." And, "Nobody but Jesus is going to rule and reign in my wife's heart." |
